DVD TESTER CORRELATION

• Isolate calibration and linearity errors that inaccurately evaluate your process.

• Identify test drives that generate false data when they improperly play marginal or poor discs.

• Resolve problems when results from multiple test systems do not agree.

Multipoint DVD-5 and DVD-9 Electrical Parameter tests include jitter, modulation, resolution, HF asymmetry, track cross, DPD amplitude, and (DVD-5 only) tangential push-pull.

Multipoint DVD Electrical Error tests include PIE, PISum8, and PIF.

Physical tests include substrate thickness, DVD-9 spacer layer thickness, scanning velocity, track pitch, track radial runout, radial and tangential angular deviation, axial runout, and unbalance.

These discs and procedures enable you to confidently rely upon data from your test equipment.

Media Sciences now provides support that allows you to achieve confidence in your system drives with comprehensive HF, error correction, optical, servo, mechanical, and logical read drive tests. Conduct in-house DVD and CD read drive vendor qualification, quality monitoring, and troubleshooting using proven methods and test discs from Media Sciences, Inc. Identify poor quality drives that may successfully read high quality discs but do not accept marginal or poor discs.

DISKETTE EXTRA BIT CALIBRATION

Accurate testing of 3½" error disks furnished by the customer classifies each error as a physical defect, a remnant flux defect, or an induced flux defect. Error thresholds are provided to an accuracy of ±3%. Based on extensive research, this service resolves major correlation problems.

DISKETTE REFERENCE MATERIAL CALIBRATION

Independent, third-party correction factors for your reference disks. Wear may have caused their calibration factors to drift, or they may be from a supplier that does not correlate with ISO-designated sources.

DISKETTES: All ANSI/ECMA/ISO Standards specify the PTB as the sole source for Diskette Reference Material. This laboratory of the German government provides a wide range of physical and chemical standards. Diskette types and their corresponding PTB Reference Material (RM) numbers are; 8" single sided – RM 5654; 5¼" single sided – RM 6596; 5¼" DS/DD – RM 7487; 5¼" HD – RM 8630; 3½" DD – RM 8860; 3½" HD – RM 9529; 3½" ED – RM 10994. OPTICAL DISCS: Although ANSI/ECMA/ISO Standards do not specify references, Philips provides reliable test and calibration discs. Test Sample 5 B.3 is calibrated for Red Book and Orange Book data. SBC 444 and 444 A Playability Discs are useful for functional and error testing. The Philips Multi-Point Calibration Set is invaluable for correlation.

The Kit can screen out bad diskette lots before they result in disasters. The agony and time you save on fire-fighting will really pay off.
